(More customer reviews)I was about to buy the Lumiquest ProMax System, but I felt like it was over-priced. Then I ran across the Opteka FS-80, which appeared to be very similar to the Lumiquest system, but about 1/3 of the price. I was hesitant to order it, since there were no reviews on it, but after receiving it, I am glad to say that it works quite well, and from what I can tell, it is EXACTLY the same as the Lumiquest system, except the Lumiquest system comes with a carry pouch, and the Opteka model doesn't. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that it comes with a softbox cover, just like the Lumiquest model, even though Amazon's product description didn't mention it.
It comes with velcro strips to attach it to your flash, but I didn't want to put velcro on my flash, so I use an Opteka cinch strap to hold it on.
I tested the 80/20, the white, gold, silver inserts, and the softbox cover, and they all work quite nicely at softening the light at close range. I prefer the 80/20 if a white ceiling is available to bounce light off of, but with no ceiling, the inserts, along with the softbox cover can do a reasonable job of softening the light.
Over all, I'm pleased with the purchase, and I am especially glad I didn't spend nearly three times as much money on the Lumiquest system.
