(More customer reviews)I purchased the Vivitar 8.1MP 8X Underwater Digital Camera with 2GB Accessory Bundle for snorkeling on my recent trip to the Galapagos. My purchase was a big mistake and a major waste of money. The camera performed terribly underwater. It was very difficult to tell if the camera was turned on or off once you were in the water. When it was turned on, I saw nothing on the screen and could not hear or feel if a picture was being taken. Basically, you are shooting blind: just pointing the camera in the general direction and hoping it was on and not off since I couldn't tell. As for the quality of the photos I did manage to take, once again the camera was a major disappointment. Any underwater movement resulted in a blurred picture, and fish tend to move, so most of my photos were just streaks of unidentifiable objects.I often entirely missed the subject I thought I was shooting since the camera has no viewfinder and the backscreen was useless. Even some of the photos that did come out were out of focus.My friend's cheap underwater throwaway camera outperformed my camera in all aspects. I would recommend a waterproof plastic bag made for digital cameras for a fraction of the price of my camera kit. In short, don't buy this product.
